Clemson Spring Practice Day 10: Observations

CLEMSON — The Clemson Football team returned to the practice fields Monday behind the Allen Reeves Football Complex in Clemson.

The media was allowed to watch the first six and a half periods of practice. Here are a few things The Clemson Insider was able to observe from our time on the practice field.

–Misun “Tink” Kelley started practice working with the wide receivers. He was wearing his white jersey (defense) which means he was likely going to work with the secondary later in practice. He has been working with both units this spring.

–Quinn Castner made a 43-yard field goal, as did Robert Gunn. The two started special teams drills with those two field goals. Nolan Hauser did not attempt a field goal.

–Clemson has two new video boards on the practice fields this year, one faces the defense and one the other offense. During breaks and in between drills, the board has motivational messages, such as “A triple breaded cord can’t be broken.” The video boards are also used for all 22 shots of practice.

–Adam Randall, Tyler Brown and Gideon Davidson returned kickoffs during special teams drills. All three looked good especially Davidson, who just looks different than everyone else when the ball is in his hands.

–Randall returned a kick similar to the one he had in the ACC Championship Game. Brown looked silky smooth on his return as well.

–Clemson did do its “Indy Team” drill while we were out there. The first team offense was QB Cade Klubnik, RB Adam Randall, WR Antonio Williams, WR T.J. Moore, WR Bryant Wesco, TE Josh Sapp, LT Mason Wade, LG Ronan O’Connell, C Ryan Linthicum, RG Harris Sewell and RT Blake Miller.

–The second team offense during Indy Team was QB Christopher Vizzina, RB David Eziomume, WR Parker Fulghum, WR Tristan Smith, WR Tyler Brown, TE Christian Bentancur, LT Brayden Jacobs, RG Gavin Blanchard, C Harris Sewell, LG Rowan Byrne and RT Easton Ware.

–Later in the practice, I also saw Davidson doing second-team drills with Christopher Vizzina. Randall was doing all first team drills with Klubnik.

–LT Tristan Leigh, who has been in a yellow jersey all spring, was riding a scooter to keep his injured left football off the ground on Monday and had his left foot heavily wrapped.

–Reserve running back Jarvis Green was wearing a boot on his right foot.
