One of Clemson’s recruiting targets came off the board over the weekend.
Four-star DE Kamhariyan Johnson (Muscle Shoals, AL) announced a commitment to Alabama over the weekend after attending the Crimson Tide’s spring game.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound recruit picked up his offer from the Tigers while visiting for the Elite Retreat last month and was scheduled to be back for the big official visit weekend from May 30 to June 1.
Four-stars Cam Brooks and Dre Quinn are other players at the position that were also on hand for the Elite Retreat. Both have already confirmed with The Clemson Insider their plans to be at the big official visit weekend.
There is a new development with four-star WR target Gordon Sellars (Providence Day, Charlotte). The 6-foot-3 wideout visited Clemson for the spring game a little over a week ago and was at South Carolina this weekend. Sellars has now set a visit to Notre Dame for Tuesday. The Irish just offered last week.
Sellars is set to announce a commitment on Friday.
Another player with an offer from Clemson came off the board (again) over the weekend. Four-star in-state RB Jaylen McGill (Mountain View Prep) committed to North Carolina on Saturday while on an unofficial visit.
The 5-foot-9, 215-pound back originally committed to Rutgers earlier this year, before decommitting about three weeks later.
McGill was the first RB in the 2026 class to pick up an offer from Clemson after landing one during an unofficial visit last fall. Despite McGill backing off his verbal pledge to Rutgers, he Tigers eventually started work on expanding the board early this year and have been heavily pursuing four-stars Jae Lamar and Carsyn Baker. Both backs took spring visits to Clemson and both are scheduled to be on hand for the big official visit weekend.
