Two Tigers Land with Super Bowl Teams in New Mock Draft

A couple of Clemson products landed with the latest Super Bowl participants in a new mock draft from this national outlet.

CBS Sports released a seven-round mock draft ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, which gets underway Thursday, April 24.

In the mock draft from CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards, Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter and tight end Jake Briningstool were picked by the teams that played in Super Bowl LIX this past February – the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

The mock draft has Carter going to the Chiefs in the fourth round with the No. 133 overall pick, and Briningstool going one round later to the Eagles in the fifth round with the 165th overall selection.

If Philadelphia picked Briningstool, that would mark back-to-back years that the Eagles drafted at least one Clemson player, as they took running back Will Shipley in the fourth round (127th overall) and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the fifth round (155th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Of course, Shipley and Trotter Jr. earned championship rings with the Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Along with Carter and Briningstool, former Clemson running back Phil Mafah was selected in the new CBS Sports mock draft, with the Seattle Seahawks taking him in the seventh round (No. 234 overall).

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft will kick off at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, followed by Rounds 2-3 at 7 p.m. April 25 and Rounds 4-7 at noon April 26.

The NFL Draft will be televised nationally by NFL Network, ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, and can be heard nationwide on Westwood One Radio, SiriusXM NFL Radio and ESPN Radio.
