Could Travis Etienne Get Traded?

Could former Clemson star Travis Etienne get dealt to another NFL team?

ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter identified Etienne as a possible trade candidate.

The former Tiger and current Jacksonville Jaguars running back may be considered tradeable, according to Schefter.

On Monday, Schefter published some of the things he’s hearing (subscription required) heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, and he listed 13 players on rookie contracts – including Etienne – who “could be deemed expendable” and traded during this week’s NFL Draft, with Schefter noting that draft weekend is a “busy time for trades of players already on rosters.”

Of course, the 2025 NFL Draft is set to take place from Thursday to Saturday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Including Etienne, the Jaguars have just three running backs on their roster right now and could address that position in the draft, with a bunch of talented backs available in this year’s draft class. The latest mock draft from ESPN’s Jordan Reid (subscription required) has Jacksonville selecting Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson in the third round.

Etienne is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025 after being selected by the Jags in the first round (25th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Over the first three seasons of his pro career, Etienne has rushed for 2,691 yards and 18 touchdowns on 637 carries, while catching 132 passes for 1,046 yards and another score.

Etienne played in 15 games last season, when he had 150 carries for 558 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to the 2024 campaign, he rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons in 2022 and 2023, after missing his entire 2021 rookie campaign due to a season-ending Lisfranc injury he suffered in that preseason.
