Briningstool to Sign Undrafted Free Agent Deal

CLEMSON — Former Clemson tight end Jake Briningstool was not drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but on Saturday it appears he will sign as an undrafted free agent.

Multiple reports have said the former Tiger will sign a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Briningstool left his mark at Clemson during his four-year career. He finished it as the Tigers’ all-time leader in career receptions by a tight end with 127, breaking Jordan Leggett’s.

A two-time All-ACC honoree, he joined former Tiger greats Bennie Cunningham, Jim Riggs, Dwayne Allen and Leggett as the fifth Clemson tight end to earn multiple All-ACC selections in a career. He was a part of a Clemson program that won two ACC Championships during his career, including this past year when they advanced to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2020.

During his four years at Clemson, Briningstool caught 127 career passes for 1,380 yards and 17 touchdowns while playing 1,982 offensive snaps over his 48 career games. He started 26 of those games from 2021-24.

Briningstool’s 50 receptions in his junior season tied the Clemson single-season school record for a tight end. He also finished second in school history in receiving touchdowns and receiving yards.

His 126 receiving yards in a record-setting night at Miami in 2023 were the most by a Clemson tight end in a single game in school history, and his nine receptions in the 2023 Gator Bowl tied the Clemson single-game record for receptions by a tight end.

Briningstool finished his Clemson career tied for the seventh-most receptions by a tight end in ACC history. His three career 100-yard receiving games were a Clemson tight end record, as well.
