CLEMSON – Three Waves of Terror, that is what Clemson’s wide receivers our calling themselves these days, and understandably why.
The Tigers are loaded with veteran and young talent across the board. It can be argued that Clemson has the best group of wide receivers in the country.
“We got great talent and young guys. Bryant Wesco, T.J. Moore, Antonio Williams and (Tyler Brown). We have all these guys,” transfer Tristan Smith said.
Smith is also one of those guys. Last year, at Southeast Missouri State, he caught 76 passes for 934 yards and six touchdowns.
The senior from LaGrange, Ga., showed off his skills in the spring game, as he hauled in five catches for 135 yards, including a 75-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown that was the play of the afternoon.
“When the first group comes out, the second group goes in, and it is the same thing. The third group goes in, it’s the same thing,” Smith said.
Smith adds production to a unit that was very productive last year. Williams, who some considered to be one of the top five receivers in the country, caught 75 passes for 904 yards and 11 TDs last season, while Bryant Wesco recorded 41 catches for 708 yards and 5 TDs. Moore added 651 yards, 45 catches and 5 TDs.
And let’s not forget about Brown, who was plagued by a foot injury and missed most of last season. He was a Freshman All-American in 2023 after catching 52 passes for 531 yards and 4 TDs.
“There is no drop off. Everybody is amazing,” Smith said. “We got a great line that is going to go out and block for a great quarterback. We got great running backs and we have great playmakers on the edge.”
And they have Three Waves of Terror.
