With the contact period in effect through May 24, members of the Clemson coaching staff are out on the road checking in on high school prospects.
Linebackers coach Ben Boulware was at Pendleton High School on Wednesday, visiting with 2026 in-state linebacker Trent Garner.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound recruit recently competed in the Coaches Combine. As a junior, Garner was named to the All-Region team, playing both end and linebacker. He registered 126 tackles,13 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and six forced fumbles. Garner recently visited Davidson for its spring game.
Boulware was also at TL Hanna, visiting with three-star 2026 TE/LB Walker Kelly. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder has offers from App State, Richmond and Gardner-Webb. North Carolina, Rutgers, Penn, James Madison and ETSU have also been showing interest. Kelly also recently competed in the Coaches Combine.
Wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham was in the Pee Dee area earlier this week. Grisham made a stop at Hannah-Pamplico.
Several current commits have also gotten recent visits. Mike Reed was in to see four-star corner commit Shavar Young Jr., and offensive line coach Matt Luke was recently by to check in on four-star OL commit Grant Wise.
