ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio Athletics announced today (June 5) the hiring of former Bobcat Andrew See as the head coach of Ohio baseball.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach See and his family back to Athens,” Ohio Athletics Director Julie Cromer said. “He is a player-centric coach with an established record of recruiting talented student-athletes and developing them to their fullest potential. He will be a superb leader of our baseball program.”
See, the 11th head coach of Ohio baseball, returns after spending the 2024-25 season as the associate head coach and pitching coach at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. His stops also include coaching stints at Ohio State, Clemson and Duke. In his time as a pitching coach, See has seen 42 pitchers drafted by Major League Baseball since 2012, including six who pitched in the majors.

Each of my coaching experiences have allowed me to grow, lead and develop an understanding of what is required to build a successful program, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Liberty finished 30-27 during the 2025 campaign, highlighted by a 7-3 showing against ACC foes with wins over NC State, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia (twice) and Virginia Tech (twice). See mentored Flames starting pitcher Ben Blair to CUSA all-conference first team honors and fellow pitcher Jack Frankel was also named to the CUSA all-conference freshman team.
Prior to joining to staff at Liberty, See served as the recruiting coordinator at Ohio State for two seasons. He recruited pitchers Gavin DeCooght and Blaine Wynk who both went on to receive Big Ten all-conference honors in 2024, while the Buckeyes qualified for the Big Ten Tournament for the first time in five seasons. While at Ohio State, See also championed two top 50 recruiting classes (No. 38 in 2023 and No. 47 in 2024) by Perfect Game.
See was the pitching coach at Clemson from 2016-22 and helped the Tigers to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances during his first four seasons. The 2018 season was also highlighted by a share of the ACC regular season title. In 2017, See was named a Top 11 recruiter in college baseball by DI Baseball. The 2016 Tigers also won the ACC championship and were the No. 7 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
During his time at Clemson, See oversaw 16 selections in the MLB First Year Player Draft: Alex Bostic (2016 10th round selection by San Francisco), Charlie Barnes (2017 fourth round by Minnesota), Alex Eubanks (2017 fourth round by Texas), Paul Campbell (2017 21st round by Tampa Bay), Pat Krall (2017 28th round by Oakland), Jeremy Beasley (2017 30th round by the Los Angeles Angels), Ryley Gilliam (2018 fifth round by the New York Mets), Ryan Miller (2018 sixth round by Arizona), Sam Weatherly (2020 third round by Colorado), Spencer Strider (2020 fourth round by Atlanta), Mack Anglin (2022 seventh round by Kansas City), Geoffrey Gilbert (2022 13th round by the New York Yankees), Keyshaw Askew (2021 10th round by the New York Mets), Aglin (2021 13th round by Washington), Davis Sharpe (2021 13th round by Cleveland) and Carter Raffield (2021 14th round by Cincinnati). Six players went on to pitch in the majors: Barnes, Strider, Miller, Campbell, Beasley and Carson Spiers, a 2020 free agent signed by the Cincinnati Reds.
Prior to Clemson, See spent three seasons (2013-2015) as pitching coach at Duke. The 2014 Blue Devils were highlighted by third-round pick Michael Matuella and fifth-round pick Drew Van Orden. That year the pitching staff totaled a school-record 501 strikeouts. The 2014 (3.14 ERA) and 2015 (3.29 ERA) seasons marked Duke’s best two ERA results since the advent of the aluminum bat.
From 2007-12, See served as pitching coach with the Bobcats and was the associate head coach for his final three seasons in Athens. His 2008 and 2010 recruiting classes earned honorable mention accolades by Collegiate Baseball.
See also spent time as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Appalachian State (2005-06) and UNC Greensboro (2004). In the summer of 2005, he was the head coach of the Southern Ohio Copperheads.
See played three seasons at Ohio from 1999-2001 after transferring from Georgia following his freshman season in 1998. In addition to playing first base and center field as a Bobcat, See was a starting pitcher in the weekend rotation for two years before moving to be the closer during his senior campaign.
See completed his career with a .350 batting average with 33 home runs and 116 RBI in the Green and White. On the mound, he posted a 13-12 overall record with 125 career strikeouts. See was an All-Mideast Region and First-Team All-MAC as a senior after leading the team with 17 home runs. After completing his eligibility, See serve as a student assistant coach (2002) and a graduate assistant coach (2003) at his alma mater.
See played professionally for the Chillicothe Paints in the Frontier (Independent) League from 2001-03. During his final season, he led the team with eight saves, while serving as the bullpen coach.
A native of Adrian, Mich., See graduated from Ohio in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and earned a master’s degree in coaching education in 2003.
See and his wife, Shauna, have a daughter, Vail.
