Erik Bakich is already busy making moves in the transfer portal.
The Clemson Insider has confirmed that former App State shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger is the latest addition after visiting Clemson on Thursday.
“I loved it,” he told The Clemson Insider.
Lichtenberger had a breakout 2025 season for the Mountaineers, earning Sunbelt Freshman of the Year honors. He hit .341, with three homers, 13 doubles, two triples and 44 RBI. He reached safely in the first 34 games he played this season, reaching safely in 46 of his 52 regular-season games.
Lichtenberger led the team with 24 multi-hit games and finished inside the Top 10 in the Sunbelt in batting average and hits (70). He was also 7-of-9 in stolen base attempts.
With Andrew Ciufo out of eligibility, the Tigers were in need of a shortstop, and Lichtenberger certainly fits the bill. Dax Kilby is a part of the incoming freshman class, but it’s very possible he is drafted in the MLB Draft this summer and never makes it to campus.
