Ironically, Clemson landed its first commitment from a 2027 linebacker before it landed its first from one in the 2026 class.
Four-star Max Brown committed to the Tigers earlier this month as soon as he landed his offer. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound recruit, who had close to 20 total offers, is the younger brother of current Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown.
As a sophomore, Brown racked up an overly impressive 152 total tackles, averaging more than 10 stops per game. He added 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.
Rivals ranks Brown No. 82 overall and No. 4 among all linebackers in the class.
Clemson has already handed out three other offers to linebackers in the class, and the staff is taking some pretty big swings with a couple of these targets.
Five-star Cooper Witten, the son of former Dallas Cowboys star tight end Jason Witten, nabbed one of the opening offers after working out at camp. Witten is the top linebacker in the class and ranks No. 17 overall in the Composite Rankings.
Four-star Kaden Henderson already holds an offer. Henderson, who attends the same high school that Wade and Drew Woodaz graduated from, has visited multiple times in the past, including for the Underclass Experience in March. He ranks as the second-best linebacker in the class and No. 35 overall.
Four-star Quinton Cypher was the second 2027 linebacker to go public with an offer from Clemson. Cypher worked out at camp earlier this month after announcing the offer. 247 ranks Cypher No. 170 overall and No. 11 among all players at the position.
