Santana Harvey’s first trip to Clemson left a lasting impression.
The four-star DE (Lakeland, FL) worked out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp in June, and while on the visit, he got a tour of the facilities and Death Valley.
“I like Clemson, I like the environment and the school itself,” Harvey told The Clemson Insider. “I toured around inside the stadium. I liked how they had tutoring rooms. I like how the stadium looks. Personally, I feel like it is the best place I have been out of all my tours so far.”
As for his workout, Harvey felt that it went really well, and he also picked up some pointers that will serve him well as he enters his junior season.
“It was really good getting coached by some of the best coaches,” he said. “Getting some things I can add to my game and take back to high school football and use.”
The visit also gave Harvey a chance to get to know Chris Rumph a little better, and since coaches were allowed to start contacting 2027 recruits directly on June 15, the Tigers’ defensive ends coach has ramped up the communication. Harvey is hoping to make it back to campus for the season opener against LSU.
“He is a very funny guy,” Harvey said. “He is a great coach. I like his personality. I feel like he can coach me up really well and I also feel like I can really fit in the way he plays defense. I also like the way he dissects football.”
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound pass rusher already has close to 20 offers, including Florida State, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma and South Carolina. 247 ranks him inside the Top 200 overall and No. 21 among all defensive linemen.
He’s already taken visits to Florida, Miami and UCF on top of his one to Clemson, and he is hoping an offer from the Tigers is coming at some point.
“It would be a big honor to have an offer from Clemson,” Harvey said. “Because they were telling me how they don’t just offer anybody. That would mean a lot because a lot of schools offer a bunch of kids, but at Clemson, that offer would be meaningful.”
And if that offer comes, it would vault Clemson up towards the top of his list.
“It would put them in my top three for sure.”
