Iveon Lewis already has well over two dozen offers, with an overwhelming majority of those coming from Power-4 schools. However, there are two that he doesn’t have yet that he’s always dreamed of earning.
One of those offers the rising high school badly wants is from Clemson. The four-star wideout, out of Huguenot (VA), took the first step towards earning one back in the spring when he visited for the Underclass Experience.
“That visit was great, one of the best places I have ever been to,” Lewis told The Clemson Insider. “The facilities were great. Watched a little bit of practice, that was cool.”
Lewis returned to campus last month, working out during the final session of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp. The 6-foot-2 prospect was one of the best receivers who camped at Clemson this summer. He got a lot of really good feedback from Tyler Grisham, with the Tigers’ wide receivers coach intimating that an offer might very well be in his future.
“Actually, it was good,” Lewis said of his performance. “I felt like I did great out there. After the camp, he said I was one of the top guys on the list. Because he only offers like a couple. He said he’d be getting back to me in a little bit.”
After his workout, Lewis had lunch with Grisham, and since coaches could start contacting players in the 2027 class directly, the two have been in contact on a regular basis.
“He is calling me sometimes, texting me, checking up on me,” Lewis added. “He is a great coach and we have a great relationship. His coaching style is good. They get guys in the league. I think they are in the top three for receivers right now. It is a great place to be if you are a receiver and you want to go to the league.”
Tennessee and Penn State have also gotten visits. Both are schools, Lewis said, that are recruiting him hard, along with Rutgers, Duke, Florida State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Syracuse. All schools that have already offered.
Now, he is ready to add one of those two that he really wants. At the same time, he understands how Clemson approaches the recruiting process, and he is more than willing to remain patient.
“It would mean a lot,” Lewis said. “That is actually one of my dream offers. That would mean the world.”
As for the other school that he would consider a dream offer, it’s Ohio State. He also holds the Buckeyes in very high regard.
As a sophomore, Lewis was a nightmare for opposing defenses. He helped lead Huguenot to an 11-1 record, with the only loss coming in the state semifinals. The blue-chip wideout tied for the team lead with 45 receptions and led the team with 1,069 yards. His 14 touchdown catches were also a team high, and Lewis averaged a staggering 23.8 yards per catch.
However, the fast-rising wideout, who On3 ranks inside the Top 150 overall, is still extremely early in the process and is in no rush to make a decision. He is eyeing next summer prior to the start of his senior season and after officials, although that certainly isn’t set in stone.
“I am looking for a great program, a good coach,” Lewis said. “I want an extension to my family. I am going to be gone, so I want to make sure I am good. And a team with a good play style. Stuff like that.
