Clemson will be Difficult to Cover

CLEMSON — This is Clemson’s wide receiving corps this season.

First, there is Antonio Williams.

After an injury-plagued second season in 2023, he posted career highs in receptions (75), receiving yards (904) and is the first to produce double-digit receiving touchdowns (11) since Tee Higgins in 2019.

Next there is Bryant Wesco.

He garnered freshman All-American honors last year after catching 41 passes for 708 yards and five touchdowns.

There is also T.J. Moore.

He caught 45 passes for 651 yards as a true freshman with 5 TDs, as well.

There is also Tyler Brown. Remember him?

After missing most of last season with a foot injury, Brown is back and ready to prove he is every bit as good as he was as a freshman. In 2023, he was named a Freshman All-American following a year in which he caught 52 passes for 531yards and scored four times.

And let’s not forget transfer Tristan Smith, shall we.

He hauled in 76 passes last year at Southeast Missouri State, while gaining 934 yards and 6 TDs.

“We got great talent and young guys. Bryant Wesco, T.J. Moore, Antonio Williams and (Tyler Brown). We have all these guys,” Smith said.

Smith transferred to Clemson in January and fills out a receiving corps many feel is one of the best in the country.

“When the first group comes out, the second group goes in, and it is the same thing. The third group goes in, it’s the same thing,” Smith said.

The Tigers also bring back Cole Turner, who they view as a fifth-year starter at the position. Misun Kelley is also expected to contribute.

“There is no drop off. Everybody is amazing,” Smith said. “We got a great line that is going to go out and block for a great quarterback. We got great running backs, and we have great playmakers on the edge.”

In other words, defenses are going to have a hard time trying to figure out who to cover this coming season. Ask Texas how difficult of a challenge that is.
