One of Clemson’s top incoming freshmen has been taken in the MLB Draft.
The Yankees selected INF Dax Kilby in the first round with the No. 39 pick, making it unlikely he ever suits up for Erik Bakich’s Tigers. The slot value for that pick is $2.51 million, per MLB.com.
The left-handed hitting Kilby, who has been committed to the Tigers since the fall of 2023, was one of the big winners in the recent MLB Draft Combine, vaulting 17 spots up to No. 62 overall in the MLB.com rankings.
Perfect Game gives Kilby a perfect grade of 10 and ranks him as the 15th best shortstop in the country and No. 2 player in the state of Georgia.
As a senior at Newnan High School, Kilby hit close to .500, helping lead his team to a 32-5 record and a 5A state title.
