LSU head coach Brian Kelly has been very outspoken leading up to his team’s season opener on the road at Clemson.
Kelly’s latest shot at Clemson came on Wednesday when he spoke to the Baton Rouge Rotary Club and called Clemson’s Memorial Stadium “Death Valley Junior.”
“You want great habits [championship traits] when they’re needed, when you’re on the road [at Clemson] and you’re playing in Death Valley Junior – not the Death Valley,” he said, via WBRZ in Baton Rouge.
At the 2025 ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, The Clemson Insider asked Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik about Kelly’s latest jab at Clemson and if that gets Klubnik a little fired up.
“I got no comment. I got no comment,” Klubnik said. “We’ll… yeah, no comment.”
Kelly also recently disrespected Clemson during his appearance at SEC Media Days, saying LSU allowed Clemson to borrow the moniker “Death Valley.”
“We still think we are ‘The Death Valley.’ They can use the name, too. We are letting them borrow it,” he said.
Kelly’s comments have provided plenty of bulletin-board fodder for Clemson ahead of the season-opening showdown at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30.
The marquee matchup between the ACC/SEC foes is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
