TCI Recruiting Roundup: Potential Flip Coming?

While Clemson still has at least a couple more spots to fill in the 2026 recruiting class, a lot of the focus from now until signing day in December will be on keeping the guys already on board in the fold.

After the Tigers suffered seven decommitments in the last cycle, with six of those coming after July, the last thing fans want to see is a hint of another class falling apart. However, seeing as there have already been well over 200 decommitments from players in the 2026 class, it’s very possible Clemson sees one or two before the early signing period. Having said that, there is no indication of a repeat of what happened last year.

That brings us to three-star cornerback commit Shavar Young Jr. Rivals’ national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman reported that a number of teams were in the process of trying to flip Young, including SMU, Michigan, Oregon and Notre Dame.

Young has been committed to Clemson for almost a year now, and other teams pursuing him is not new news. Back in January, during the contact period, several schools visited Young at his high school, including all the ones mentioned above, and he was pretty public about it, posting the photos to social media. So, it has always been pretty clear that he never totally shut things down.

Whether he eventually flips remains to be seen, but if the Tigers are going to lose one, the safe bet would be on Young.

Five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray announced a commitment date of August 22. Clemson, LSU, South Carolina, Ohio State and Tennessee are his listed finalists.

Clemson offered last summer when they started handing out offers to players in the 2026 class and after going an extended period without being on campus, Gray finally made it back for the Elite Retreat in March. He was also on hand for the big official visit weekend in early June.

Having said all that, the Tigers already have six offensive linemen committed in this class, and aren’t expected to take a seventh.
