Where does Clemson’s iconic pregame entrance to Memorial Stadium rank among this ESPN analyst’s favorite traditions?
Harry Douglas, the former Louisville All-American and 10-year NFL wide receiver, gave what he sees as the top five college football traditions.
Douglas ranked “the most exciting 25 seconds in college football” — Clemson rubbing Howard’s Rock and running down The Hill – as the third-best tradition.
“I’ve been able to witness this in person,” Douglas said. “They get on that bus at Clemson, they get off that bus, they touch that – not a little rock, but big Howard’s Rock – they groom that rock a little bit, then they run down that Hill. … The crowd is going crazy. It’s electrifying. That’s why I have the Clemson Tigers touching that Rock and sprinting down The Hill. Dabo even sprints down The Hill.”
Ranked ahead of The Hill and Howard’s Rock on Douglas’s list are Wisconsin’s “Jump Around” and Lee Corso’s headgear picks.
