CLEMSON — The Clemson Insider learned that a Clemson offensive lineman suffered an injury during the fourth-ranked Tigers’ scrimmage this past Saturday.
TCI confirmed through multiple sourcing that right guard Walker Parks was injured during the two-hour scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.
According to our sources, the scrimmage had to be stopped so Parks could be taken from the field. At this time, there is no official word on Parks, his injury or the severity of the injury.
Parks, who is expected to start at right guard this season, could miss several weeks.
Following Saturday’s scrimmage, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked if the team came out of the scrimmage healthy.
“There are always some guys that get banged up. It is always something when you go play live football,” Swinney said.
If Parks does miss a significant amount of time, look for Collin Sadler to play more at left guard, while Harris Sewell will likely replace him at right guard, which is where he started the last five games of the 2023 season.
Sadler and Sewell had been battling it out at left guard before Parks’ injury. Look for Elyjah Thurmon to be a backup at the guard positions.
A super senior, Parks missed all but two games due to injuries in 2023. He played 123 snaps before suffering a season-ending injury in the Tigers’ win over Charleston Southern in Week 2.
Parks bounced back to play in all 14 games last season, while recording 703 snaps.
In his career, Parks has played in over 2,500 snaps. He started at right tackle in 2021 and moved over to guard in 2022.
Last year, he helped the Clemson offense average 451.9 yards per game, good enough for a top 15 national ranking at seasons end. Parks was a third-team All-ACC selection in 2024 and earned Freshman All-Americans honors from ESPN, as well.
Swinney will likely give an update on Parks’ status when he meets with the media following Thursday’s scrimmage.
