With five-star Tyler Atkinson committing to Texas last month, Clemson has yet to officially make its move on the next target at the position in the 2026 class.
Once Tom Allen was hired as the new defensive coordinator and Ben Boulware was promoted to linebackers coach, Atkinson basically became the lone target. He was the only linebacker to be on hand at the big official visit weekend back in June.
With the 2025 season rapidly approaching and the Tigers still having no linebacker in the class, many have questioned when the staff might make a move on a new target.
Four-star DQ Forkpa has been a name worth monitoring. Forkpa was offered by the Tigers last June, when Wes Goodwin was still the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, and he took two game-day visits last season. However, once Allen and Boulware were in place, Clemson put all of its focus on Atkinson.
Back in January, Forkpa transferred from Mill Creek (GA) to IMG Academy (FL). Now, Forkpa is on the move again, as he is transferring to another nationally known program in St. Francis Academy (MD).
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound recruit has close to 30 offers, including Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Miami and Georgia Tech. ESPN ranks Forkpa the highest of any of the services, slotting him No. 40 overall and No. 5 among all linebackers.
Last season at Mill Creek, an injury limited Forkpa to just six games. He finished the season with 22 tackles, two tackles for loss and three pass deflections.
No word yet on whether he plans to make it back to Clemson at some point this season.
