Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media on Tuesday morning ahead of Saturday’s showdown between his fourth-ranked Tigers and the No. 9 LSU Tigers.
Swinney gave an injury update on redshirt sophomore running back Jay Haynes and how he has continued to progress, as he recovers from his ACL injury.
Swinney said Haynes will not play against LSU, but is “right there” in terms of his recovery.
“He’s coming,” Swinney said. “He’s not going to play this week, but he’s right there.”
Swinney noted that Haynes has been in green (limited) throughout camp and they knew going in that Haynes likely wouldn’t play against LSU.
The Tigers lost Haynes to a torn ACL in last year’s ACC Championship Game. Before the injury, he rushed 43 times for 295 yards and three touchdowns and caught seven passes for 32 yards in 150 offensive snaps over 13 games.
