Swinney’s Wednesday Practice Report

CLEMSON — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney spoke to the media one final time Wednesday before his fourth-ranked Tigers host No. 9 LSU Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Below is a quick look at some of the topics he was asked about following Wednesday’s practice.

–Swinney was asked about the status of right guard Walker Parks the last two days in practice. The Clemson coach said he has been able to work in pads the last couple of days and has been able to get some reps in and is in a good spot. “He is getting a lot of team work and is still working his way back to hundred percent.”

–Staying with the offensive line, Swinney was asked about the battle to be Clemson’s starting left guard position. Though Collin Sadler told us (the media) following the Tigers’ first scrimmage that he was getting the majority of his reps at first-team left guard, Swinney was still being coy when it came to whom was doing what and whom might start against LSU. “We got seven guys. They are all starters. Whoever runs out their first, I could careless between that group, honestly. I think they all will play. Whoever Matt (Luke) runs out there first, I am good with.”

–Swinney was also asked if cornerback Jeadyn Lukus is ready to go after missing most of fall camp with an injury. “He was able to get some scrimmage work in, so that was good. We got some live work in. He missed the two actual scrimmages, but we were able to do a little couple of periods of live work that he got. So, he has been rolling for the last two weeks and looks good.”

–Swinney was asked if Lukus was his No. 3 corner, and the Clemson coach responded by saying, “he might be No. 2. He might be No. 1. I don’t know. We will see. He is definitely one of them for sure. He is a good one.”

–Swinney was asked about defensive tackle Vic Burley and where he is at heading into the LSU game. Swinney said the redshirt sophomore is in the best shape of his Clemson career. He said Burley is the best version of himself since he came to Clemson.
