What We Are Hearing on Injuries

ATLANTA — The 12th-ranked Clemson Tigers are set to open ACC play against Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium, and the Tigers will be without several key players.

Sources tell The Clemson Insider that wide receiver Antonio Williams (hamstring) and safety Khalil Barnes (hamstring) will not play against the Yellow Jackets. In fact, TCI was told Williams will likely not be back in the lineup until after the bye week when Clemson plays at North Carolina on Oct. 5.

The offensive line has been hit hard with injuries already this season and that will be the case again against Tech. Left tackle Tristan Leigh, who suffered an ankle injury against LSU, is doubtful from what we have heard. Offensive guard Elyjah Thurman, who is in concussion protocol, will be a game-day decision. TCI was told Thurman’s injury occurred in practice on Monday.

The official injury report for Friday will be released later tonight by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Clemson and Georgia Tech kick off Saturday at noon. The game will be televised on ESPN.
