After opening the 2025 season with back-to-back non-conference home games, No. 12/11 Clemson will open both its conference slate and its road slate on Saturday, Sept. 13 when the Tigers face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Kickoff at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in Atlanta is set for noon ET on ESPN.
The game will be the 90th meeting between the two programs dating to their first meeting in 1898, Clemson’s third year of football. Amid changes to the ACC scheduling model, Clemson and Georgia Tech did not face one another last year, ending a streak of 41 consecutive years in which the two programs had squared off.
Clemson enters the game on a nine-game winning streak in its series with Georgia Tech. With a win on Saturday, Clemson would produce its ninth all-time winning streak of 10 or more games against a single opponent.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS WEEK
– Clemson and Georgia Tech facing one another for the 42nd of the last 43 years. By virtue of the ACC adopting a divisionless format with altered protected rivalries in 2024, last season marked the first year since 1982 that
Clemson and Georgia Tech did not face one another.
– Clemson attempting to earn its 37th all-time victory against Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech is one of eight schools against whom Clemson has earned at least 35 all-time victories (South Carolina, Wake Forest, NC State, Furman, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Georgia Tech).

The 2025 campaign marks Clemson’s 73rd season of membership in the ACC, dating back to the conference’s first year of play in 1953. In its previous
72 seasons of ACC membership, Clemson has posted a 45-26-1 record in conference openers.
Clemson has won nine of its last 10 ACC openers. Clemson’s eight-year winning streak in conference openers from 2015-22 was Clemson’s longest such streak in school history. Head Coach Dabo Swinney is 11-5 in ACC openers at Clemson, with four of the five losses coming on the road.
Clemson’s ACC openers have disproportionately been played on the road in recent years. Including this year, 11 of Clemson’s 14 conference openers will have been played away from Memorial Stadium.
WITH THE WIN
– Clemson improved to 3-0 all-time against Troy.
– Though Clemson is now 3-0 in its all-time series with Troy, Clemson has had to overcome halftime deficits in two of the three victories. Clemson’s eventual ACC title team overcame a 16-13 halftime deficit for a 43-19
win in the teams’ first meeting in 2011, and Clemson’s eventual national championship team held off Troy by one score in a 30-24 win in 2016.
