One of the top players from the state of Pennsylvania is set to make his first visit to Clemson on Saturday.
2028 three-star RB Jerome Larue (Bishop McDevitt) will be making the trip down south for a visit that was set up over the past week or so.
“Started hearing from them about a week ago,” Larue told The Clemson Insider. “I am an underclassman, so they have to reach out through my coach to reach me. That is basically how it came about. I am allowed to call them, but they are not allowed to call me.”
While Larue isn’t all that familiar with Clemson yet, he has been doing his research, and he is looking forward to experiencing the Tigers running down the hill.
“I have been doing my research, and I would have to say that entrance,” Larue said. “I am interested in seeing that. I know Death Valley gets rowdy. And also meeting the running backs coach.”
This trip will also mark Larue’s first opportunity to meet running backs coach CJ Spiller. Another area in which he’s done his research.
“I did watch CJ Spiller’s film,” Larue said. “I am kind of a speed back also. He could go. My dad said he used to play with him in the old NCAA game like a cheat code. A first-round draft pick.”
West Virginia, Syracuse, Southern Cal, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are some of the teams to have already offered. The Mountaineers mark his most recent offer after a visit to Morgantown last weekend.
After his visit to Clemson, Larue also plans to hit the White-Out game at Penn State, then head to Southern Cal and Alabama. He is also looking to add Tennessee to the schedule.
“I want to establish more of a relationship with the universities,” he said. “So far, the schools I do have offers from currently, West Virginia, Penn State and Syracuse, those would be ones I reach out to on a consistent basis. I am not saying those are my top three schools. Tennessee, I have been reaching out to them a lot.”
Larue ranks No. 252 overall in the Rivals Industry Rankings and No. 17 among all running backs in the class. He also ranks No. 4 in his state.
Despite still being early in the process, Larue could see himself making a decision before the end of the year, and when that time does come, relationships are going to be one of the biggest factors.
“I told my dad that I want to commit somewhere before the state championship game (this year),” Larue said. “I am more of a relationship guy, so I don’t really go for, ‘Hey, this is your hometown team, so you have to go here.’ Everyone from here wants to go to Penn State. That is a dream school, also. But I am more of a relationship guy, and whoever is rapping with me, I am rapping with them. I just want that family-oriented vibe. I just want the unity, really. Very family-driven.”
