Etienne Shines in Week 4, Continues Strong Start

Former Clemson star Travis Etienne continued his strong start to the 2025 season with another outstanding effort on Sunday in Week 4.

Etienne rushed for 124 yards on 19 carries, including a 48-yard touchdown scamper, helping the Jacksonville Jaguars improve to 3-1 with a 26-21 victory over the San Francisco 49ers (3-1) at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Etienne’s 48-yard touchdown run came early in the second quarter and gave the Jags a 7-3 lead at the time – a lead they would never relinquish.

Sunday marked the second 100-plus-yard rushing performance in four games this season for Etienne, who came into the day with 270 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 46 carries (5.9 average), to go with five catches for 31 yards and a touchdown reception.

Etienne is now in the final year of his rookie contract after being selected by the Jaguars in the first round (25th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He entered this season having rushed for 2,691 yards and 18 touchdowns on 637 carries, while catching 132 passes for 1,046 yards and another score, over the first three seasons of his pro career.

Etienne played in 15 games last season, when he had 150 carries for 558 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to the 2024 campaign, he rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons in 2022 and 2023, after missing his entire 2021 rookie campaign due to a season-ending Lisfranc injury he suffered in that preseason.

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence was efficient in Sunday’s game, completing 21 of his 31 passes for 174 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hunter Long with five minutes left in the second quarter that extended Jacksonville’s lead to 14-3.

Up next for Lawrence, Etienne and the Jags is a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, Oct. 6.
