Has Swinney Made Any Changes in Coaching Responsibilities?

During his weekly Tuesday press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney called his team’s season thus far an “absolute coaching failure.”

So, with coaching being the problem, has Swinney made any changes in coaching responsibilities?

Swinney was asked that question during his Tuesday presser.

“No,” Swinney said. “We’ve just gotta be better. It’s not time for that. We’ve got good people, but we’ve not done a good job. But we have good people.”

Added Swinney of Clemson’s 1-3 start: “It’s a result business. Again, when you’re in the outhouse, everything stinks. When you’re in the penthouse, you’ve still got a pile of crap on the floor, but you just don’t notice it. Like, it just magnifies things.”

Swinney reiterated that it’s on the coaches to get the players to play up to their potential, and that starts with Swinney himself. But he says he doesn’t plan on shaking up the coaching assignments.

“It’s on us. That’s our job. That’s what we get paid to do, is to bring out the best in our players, and we haven’t done that. Again, that’s pointing the thumb at me. I make the decisions on who runs the rooms,” Swinney said.

“But we’ve got good people and we’ve got good coaches. It’s not like they’ve never been a good coach. We just haven’t gotten the job done at this point in time in the season.”
