Swinney Gives Sunday Injury Update on Klubnik

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney held his weekly teleconference Sunday evening following the Tigers’ 41-10 win at Boston College on Saturday night.

Swinney gave the latest update on starting quarterback Cade Klubnik’s ankle injury.

“Cade sprained his ankle. I think he’ll be OK,” Swinney said. “He’ll probably be limited here, for sure, today and tomorrow. He’ll probably ramp up as the week goes. Other than that, we’re in a pretty good spot [injury wise].”

Klubnik got hurt late in the third quarter, when his ankle got rolled under him on a second-and-goal play from the Boston College 9-yard line.

On the play, Klubnik ran 6 yards on a designed quarterback run where he took a big hit from a couple of BC defenders with about a minute and a half left in the third quarter. He got up limping and was taken out of the game. Christopher Vizzina replaced him at quarterback and threw a fourth-down interception in the end zone to end the Clemson drive.

Klubnik finished Saturday’s game 22-of-30 passing for 280 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception. The senior also rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

In six games this season, Klubnik has completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 1,530 yards with 11 touchdown passes and five interceptions, to go with 104 rushing yards and two rushing scores on 47 carries.

Clemson (3-3, 2-2 ACC) returns to action Saturday against SMU at Death Valley (3:30 p.m., ACC Network).
