Clemson DL Named to Midseason AP All-America Team

The Associated Press midseason All-America team was released this week.

Clemson junior defensive tackle Peter Woods is on the AP midseason All-America first team defense.

Woods, an AP preseason All-America first-team pick, has started all six games for the Tigers so far this season and made an impact on both sides of the ball.

The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder was credited by the coaching staff with 10 tackles (0.5 for loss) in the season opener vs. LSU, and then vs. Troy, he recorded three tackles and deflected a pass that was intercepted by Ashton Hampton. Woods made three tackles at Georgia Tech, converted a fourth-and-1 with a 2-yard gain on his first career rushing attempt vs. Syracuse, and added six tackles vs. the Orange. He converted another fourth down with a 3-yard gain at North Carolina.

Woods earned ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors after his performance in last week’s win at Boston College, when he rushed twice for 4 yards for a touchdown and a first down on offense, while recording three tackles, a sack and a pass breakup on defense.

In that game, he became the first FBS player in 2025 — and first Clemson player since Christian Wilkins in 2018 — to record a rushing touchdown and a sack in a single game.

Woods entered this season with 59 tackles (11.0 for loss), 3.0 sacks and two forced fumbles in 23 games (12 starts) over his first two seasons at Clemson from 2023-24. Last season, Woods was moved outside to defensive end before moving back inside to the interior. He finished the year with 32 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble.
