Wesco Has Message for Supporters

After suffering a scary injury in this past Saturday’s game against SMU, Clemson wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. took to social media Monday with a thank-you message.

As you know, Wesco was injured during a punt return in the third quarter, when he was flipped up in the air by an SMU defender and landed on his head/neck area. Though he got up and walked off the field, Wesco eventually left the game and was transported to a nearby hospital.

“They took him to the hospital to check him out. It is a pretty serious deal, so keep him in your prayers,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said after the game.

On Monday, Wesco wrote the following message on Instagram:

“Thank you to everyone sending your prayers. I really appreciate everyone’s help and support! It means the world to me.”

Our sources told TCI on Sunday afternoon, that Wesco was transferred to Greenville, S.C., where he underwent a series of tests for what is being described as an injury to the head or neck area. We were told things did not look as bad as they were once feared.

Wesco, who is Clemson’s leading wide receiver on the season, left Saturday’s game without a catch. He has 31 catches for 537 yards and six touchdowns this season. The sophomore is expected to miss significant time.

Swinney is scheduled to meet with the media this evening and should provide an update on Wesco and his status at that time.
