Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik returned to action in last Saturday’s game vs. Duke after he missed the SMU game on Oct. 18 with the ankle injury that he suffered one week earlier at Boston College.
The senior signal caller had a career day against the Blue Devils, completing 27-of-36 passes for a career-high 385 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
So, how has Klubnik’s ankle responded since the Duke game?
Klubnik met with the media on Wednesday, saying his ankle is feeling good and has responded well.
“I feel good,” he said. “I thought I was going to be a little bit more sore, but I’m feeling a lot better than I thought I was going to be feeling. It’s not a gentle sport, so always little bumps and bruises along the way throughout the season. But I feel great and excited to attack another week.”
Klubnik, who also rushed for 12 yards on four carries vs. Duke, added that he felt close to himself vs. Duke from a mobility standpoint and wasn’t really limited by his injury.
“I fought through everything,” he said. “I felt like when I needed to move around, I felt like I moved around pretty well. I felt like I was really close to myself out there, so honestly, I felt better than I thought I was going to be out there and felt like I moved around pretty well.”
Klubnik and the Tigers (3-5, 2-4 ACC) hit the field against Saturday to host Florida State (4-4, 1-4 ACC) at Memorial Stadium (7 p.m., ACCN).
In seven games this season, Klubnik has completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 1,915 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions. He has also rushed 51 times for 116 yards and two more scores on the ground.
