Multiple High-Profile RBs Visit Clemson, Including Top Target

CLEMSON — A handful of high-profile running backs were on hand for Clemson’s win over Florida State on Saturday, including the Tigers’ top target in the next recruiting cycle.

Four-star in-state RB Tre Segarra (Byrnes) made his return to campus. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound prospect is the only player at the position Clemson has offered in the 2027 class.

This marked Segarra’s second game-day visit of the season. He was also on hand for the season-opener against LSU. South Carolina has also received two game-day visits, and Segarra has also been to Tennessee, Florida and Florida State.

247 ranks Segarra No. 108 overall and No. 5 among all running backs in the class.

While Segarra is the only back to have officially picked up an offer from the Tigers in the 2027 class, the staff has also been recruiting Andrew Beard pretty hard. Beard, who has been selected to play in the Navy All-American Bowl, was last on campus for the LSU game.

He recently put out a list of finalists that included Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama. Obviously, without having an offer, Clemson was excluded from the list.

The Tigers also had a couple of notable 2028 running backs in attendance for the win over Florida State. Three-star Jacez Walton (Central, GA) was on hand. Walton’s older brother, Jonaz Walton, is a four-star back in the 2026 class who is currently committed to Notre Dame.

The younger Walton currently has offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami, Oregon, Tennessee and Minnesota.

Walton currently ranks as the 12th-best back in the 2028 class in the 247 Composite Rankings.

2028 in-state RB Michael Martin II (Christ Church) also returned this weekend. This marked Martin’s fifth game-day visit this season.

Through the first 10 games of his sophomore season, Martin rushed for 1,232 yards with 25 total touchdowns, good for fourth-best in the state. He has accumulated 1,433 all-purpose yards in that span.

Martin is considered by some to be the top in-state running back in his class. Syracuse, Wake Forest, Duke, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miami and Texas A&M have all offered.
