Herbstreit Credits Clemson After Win Over Louisville

Kirk Herbstreit showed some love to Clemson during Saturday’s edition of College GameDay.

Herbstreit, ESPN’s lead college football analyst, credited the Tigers (5-5, 4-4 ACC) after they came away with a 20-19 victory at No. 20 Louisville (7-3, 4-3) on Friday night.

“Not a pretty game, but give Clemson credit,” Herbstreit said. “This team continues to fight despite such a bad year that they’ve had.”

Clemson pushed its all-time record against Louisville to 9-1 and remained undefeated in road games in the series by improving to 5-0 all-time in Louisville.

The Tigers concluded ACC play with a 4-4 record to finish .500 or better in conference play for the 27th consecutive season. Including 2025, Clemson’s now-27-year streak is tied with Boise State for the longest active streak in the country and the fourth-longest streak in the FBS since 1966.

Clemson now needs to win just one of its final two games to become bowl eligible and keep its bowl-eligibility streak alive. Coming into this season, Clemson had been bowl eligible for 26 consecutive seasons dating to 1999 – tied for the third-longest streak in the nation.

The Tigers will play host to Furman this Saturday (4:30 p.m., The CW) before concluding the regular season against rival South Carolina in Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 29 (12 p.m., ABC or  ESPN).
