Top In-State RB Returning to Clemson for Sixth Time This Season

One in-state talent is about to make his sixth visit to Clemson this season.

2028 running back Michael Martin II (Christ Church) tells The Clemson Insider that he will be on hand when the Tigers host Furman on Saturday. This will mark the final home contest of the season. Martin was at Tennessee last weekend.

“I’m looking forward to Clemson getting the win and becoming bowl eligible,” Martin told TCI. “As always, seeing Coach (CJ) Spiller and Coach (Andrew) Zow again. Being in Death Valley is just great. Every time I’m back there, it just gets better.”

Martin, who Prep Red Zone ranks as the top in-state running back, helped lead his high school team to an 8-4 record this season, which ended on Friday with a 40-37 loss at Woodruff in the second round of the playoffs.

Martin finishes his sophomore campaign with 1,441 rushing yards, while averaging well over five yards per carry. His 30 touchdowns rank fourth-best in the state of South Carolina.

Martin reports offers from Syracuse, Duke, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miami, Wake Forest and Texas A&M.
