Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney says that starting quarterback Cade Klubnik is feeling the best he’s felt in quite some time from a health standpoint.
Of course, Klubnik sprained his ankle at Boston College on Oct. 11, causing him to miss the SMU game one week later. After an open date, the senior signal caller returned to action vs. Duke on Nov. 1, but suffered a quad contusion in that contest. He could “hardly walk” and didn’t practice much at all leading up to the Florida State game on Nov. 8, though he played through it.
Klubnik hasn’t missed any games since the SMU game, though he’s been hampered at times by the recent injuries and has been working his way back to 100 percent.
On Wednesday evening, during his final media availability ahead of Saturday’s game against Furman, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an update on Klubnik health-wise and confirmed that his mobility has been improving.
“He’s better,” Swinney said. “He’s the best he’s been in a while, for sure. Way better than he was two weeks ago. Better than he was last week.”
In nine games this season, Klubnik has completed 67.6% percent of his passes for 2,323 yards and 14 touchdown passes with five interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder has also rushed for 111 yards and three more scores on 65 carries.
Klubnik and the Tigers return to action this Saturday against Furman at Memorial Stadium (4:30 p.m., The CW).
