Since suffering an ankle injury late in the blowout win over Boston College in October, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik has been pushing to get back to full health.
Since then, Klubnik has also suffered a quad injury, making his journey back to full health a long one.
“Just continuing to get better every day,” the quarterback said. “Obviously, continuing to get better, which is good. Making progress. Working my butt off.”
While the injuries have limited what he can do in the running game, Klubnik’s passing numbers have been as good as they’ve been all season since suffering the initial injury. Last time out, the senior signal caller completed 65% of his passes, while helping the Tigers to a 20-19 win at Louisville, the team’s first win over a ranked opponent all season.
For the season, Klubnik has passed for 2,323 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s also rushed for 200 yards, with three more scores.
Now, Klubnik plays the final home game of his career against Furman, as he prepares to say goodbye to Death Valley as a player. Even better, he is feeling as good as he’s felt since the original injury, and with the rival Gamecocks on deck after the Paladins, that’s good news for Clemson.
“I would say best I felt in a while, especially this past game,” Klubnik said. “It’s fun to see yourself get better and get healthier. Still fighting to get to a hundred percent, but I’m feeling really good. Best I have felt in a while.”
