CLEMSON – The Clemson Tigers extended an already-certain lead 31-0 over the Furman Paladins with a six-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Christopher Vizzina to tight end Christian Bentancur at Memorial Stadium.
The touchdown was Vizzina’s first of the night after senior starter Cade Klubnik checked out of his last home game as a Tiger.
The short drive started when Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown intercepted a Paladins’ pass, putting the Tigers (5-5, 4-4 ACC) at Furman’s 22-yard line to start the drive. Vizzina opened the drive by finding freshman running back Gideon Davidson for a nine-yard pass. Davidson then got the ball again for a seven-yard carry to the Paladins’ six-yard line.
After an incomplete pass to tight end Ian Schieffelin and a Vizzina run for no gain, the redshirt sophomore signal-caller found Bentancur, who muscled his way to the goal line.
The touchdown marked Bentancur’s first since a multi-touchdown game at North Carolina on Oct. 4. The drive lasted six plays and just over two minutes.
