Former Tiger, NFL Rookie to Undergo Surgery

A former Clemson defender is set to miss some time after suffering an injury during an NFL game on Sunday.

According to multiple reports, former Tiger and current Philadelphia Eagles rookie safety Andrew Mukuba will undergo surgery after fracturing his ankle in Sunday’s 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Per reports, a decision will be made during surgery on whether he could potentially come back later this season.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed during his Monday press conference that Mukuba will miss some time.

“Yeah, you guys saw the report,” Sirianni said. “He’ll be out for some time, for a little bit, and we’ll see. I’ll never put a timetable on a guy. We’ll see how long.”

Mukuba was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft (No. 64 overall pick).

The 5-foot-11, 186-pounder was enjoying a strong rookie campaign, tallying 46 total tackles, two tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, three passes defended and two interceptions across 11 games (10 starts).

Mukuba spent three seasons at Clemson before transferring to Texas for his fourth and final college campaign in 2024.

In his three-year Clemson career from 2021-23, Mukuba totaled 149 tackles (4.5 for loss), one sack, 20 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and an interception over 35 games (31 starts).

Mukuba enjoyed a successful return home to the Lone Star State last season, earning third-team All-SEC honors in his lone season as a Longhorn. In 15 games, the Austin, Texas, native collected 69 tackles (4.0 for loss), six pass breakups, a forced fumble and a career-high five interceptions.
