A fast-ring offensive lineman made his first game-day visit to Clemson recently.
2028 three-star Charlie Pisani (John Carroll, FL) visited for the Furman game, marking his first visit to campus since working out at camp back in the summer.
“The game was kind of a blowout against Furman, but it was fun to see what they do,” Pisani told The Clemson Insider. “We stayed in the locker room after. Got to hear Coach Swinney speak. It was very inspiring to hear what he had to say.”
One of the highlights of the visit for Pisani was getting to chop it up with offensive line coach Matt Luke and some of the other assistants before the contest.
“Probably the coaches, just talking to the staff beforehand,” Pisani said. “They have the lunch, like a buffet, and the coaches came around and talked to me and my parents. Just sitting down and having a conversation. That was great. I think that was what really made the trip worth it. Just to speak to those guys on a deeper level than just football. Just getting to know them as a person. I think that was the best part about it.”
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman already has more than a dozen offers, including Florida, Florida State, Miami, Louisville, Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Clemson won’t start offering players in the 2028 class until the summer, a strategy Pisani has tremendous respect for.
“I think it is great,” Pisani said. “In order to have a good program, you got to recruit well, and in order to recruit well, you got to have good recruits. And I think they weed out the good recruits from the bad recruits. I think Clemson does that for a reason. To kind of uphold that image of their program.”
Pisani is hoping that when those offers start going out, he will be fortunate enough to land one.
“I have worked very hard to hold myself to a higher standard than everyone else and getting an offer from Clemson would really mean a lot to me,” Pisani said. “That would mean that they see the standard that I hold myself to.”
Tennessee, Florida State and Miami also received game-day visits. While Pisani has yet to pick up an offer from the Tigers, he’s seen enough to know they’d be a legitimate contender in his recruitment.
“They are definitely up there,” Pisani said. “I love the coaching staff and the program that they have. Like I said, I hold myself to a high standard and they hold themselves to a high standard. I like how they do that and I like how they are different from everyone else. They are not the same as some of these other programs.”
Pisani is still extremely early in the process. He isn’t looking to make a decision anytime soon, possibly not until the summer before the start of his senior season.
He is using some of these early visits to gauge which schools might be a potential fit, and so far, he likes what Clemson has to offer.
“I am looking for a good coaching staff,” Pisani said. ” I am looking for a scheme that I fit into. I love the academic aspect of it, and that is what also stands out about Clemson. Also, your plans for the future, because everyone knows football isn’t forever. Somewhere I can graduate with a degree. So if I don’t end up getting drafted, I will have a stable job.”
