Higgins Returns from Concussion with a Bang

Former Clemson star Tee Higgins returned with a bang on Sunday in Week 14 of the NFL season.

Higgins was back in action for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

The sixth-year wide receiver missed the Bengals’ Thanksgiving matchup against the Baltimore Ravens due to a concussion he suffered on a scary play against the New England Patriots on Nov. 23, when he had to be carted off after going down hard to the ground and landing on his head while trying to make a catch.

Higgins cleared concussion protocol and returned against the Bills. Unfortunately for the Bengals, they suffered a fourth-quarter collapse, falling 39-34 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. Cincinnati led 28-18 with 8:44 remaining in the game before Buffalo rallied.

However, Higgins certainly did his part to try and help the Bengals to a victory, hauling in six catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns – his eighth and ninth of the season.

The first was an impressive 21-yard touchdown grab on a pass from quarterback Joe Burrow early in the second quarter. Higgins later one-upped that first touchdown by snagging a one-handed, 25-yard touchdown pass from Burrow late in the fourth quarter.

Higgins briefly left the game and was evaluated for a concussion after his head slammed against the frozen turf at Highmark Stadium, but he was cleared to return. He later underwent a second concussion evaluation and returned later in the fourth quarter before his second touchdown.

Higgins entered Sunday’s game with 40 catches for 575 yards this season. He was tied for fifth in the NFL with his seven TD catches coming into Sunday’s game.

Back in March, Higgins finalized a four-year deal with Cincinnati worth $115 million. He was drafted by the Bengals in the second round (No. 33 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Coming into the 2025 campaign, Higgins had caught 330 passes for 4,595 yards and 34 touchdowns across 70 career regular season games, while recording at least 900 receiving yards in four of his five seasons, including back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2021 and 2022. Higgins has also appeared in seven playoff games and ranks second in Bengals history in both postseason receptions (31) and postseason receiving yards (457).

Higgins and the Bengals will host division rival Baltimore next Sunday.
