Latest Intel On Potential Portal QB Target

The transfer portal is now officially open, and buzz is in the air surrounding who is leaving the Clemson program and who might be joining in the very near future. ‘

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Tigers is whether or not Dabo Swinney chooses to target a quarterback to come in and take over for the departing Cade Klubnik in 2026.

One name that has been connected to Clemson early on from some reports is Michigan State transfer quarterback Aidan Chiles. The junior signal caller spent his first season at Oregon State, where he played behind former Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei, before joining the Spartans ahead of the 2024 season.

The Clemson Insider touched base with Chiles late Friday morning, with the quarterback noting that he had yet to hear from the Tigers.

Swinney has yet to officially name a new offensive coordinator after parting ways with Garrett Riley on Monday. Former OC Chad Morris has been the leading candidate to land the job, and the belief is that he would have a lot of say on which direction the staff chooses to go at quarterback.

Chiles threw for 1,392 yards in nine games this season, with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also added 227 yards on the ground with six more scores. In 2024, Chiles put up his best numbers, passing for more than 2,300 yards, with 13 touchdowns.

247 ranks him as the 10th-best quarterback in the transfer portal.
