A former Clemson star made his first career NBA start this week.
PJ Hall got the start for the Charlotte Hornets in their game against the Milawaukee Bucks on Friday at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis.
Hall played 19 minutes in the Hornets’ 122-121 loss. The former Clemson big man went 1-of-4 from the field and scored four points while registering eight rebounds and one assist.
Hall signed a two-way contract with the Hornets on Dec. 24. A second-year pro, he was previously with the Memphis Grizzlies on a two-way contract earlier this season prior to being waived on Nov. 16.
Hall, who hails from Spartanburg, S.C., told The Charlotte Observer that he’s happy to be with the Hornets and he’s living his dream.
“Yeah, it 100% seems surreal,” Hall said. “I’m getting goosebumps talking about it.”
Hall was not drafted in 2024 but instead signed a two-way contract with Denver. He was released by the Nuggets this past summer.
Hall has appeared in 30 NBA games over two seasons, including 19 with Denver in 2024-25, seven with the Grizzlies this season and four with the Hornets this season.
In his four games with Charlotte thus far, Hall is averaging 5.8 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field in 15.0 minutes per game.
Hall became just the 14th player in Clemson men’s basketball history to earn first-team All-ACC honors in 2023-24. He averaged 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game that season, on his way to Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention honors. His 659 points set the school record for points in a season. Hall finished his career in the top 10 of Clemson’s all-time scoring list (1,702 points).
