Former Clemson DE Signs Deal with NFL Team

Former Clemson defensive end K.J. Henry is back with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers announced this week that Henry is among the players who were signed to Reserve/Future contracts with the team.

From the Steelers’ official website on Henry:

Henry, who was signed to the Steelers practice squad on Oct. 12 but later released, was originally drafted in the fifth-round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. Henry has played in 14 career games, with three starts, during his time with multiple teams including the Commanders (2023), Cincinnati Bengals (2024) and Dallas Cowboys (2024). He has 22 career tackles and two and a half sacks. Henry has spent time on the Cleveland Browns and most recently Philadelphia Eagles practice squads as well.

Henry was signed to the Eagles’ practice squad in November 2024 and earned a Super Bowl championship ring with the Eagles’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

He played five seasons at Clemson from 2018-22, collecting 147 career tackles (28.0 for loss), 13.5 sacks, 11 pass breakups, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles over 58 career games (24 starts).

Henry was a true freshman on Clemson’s 2018 national championship team. With the Eagles’ win in Super Bowl LIX, he joined joined Justyn Ross, Cornell Powell, Tremayne Anchrum Jr., Dan Benish, K.D. Dunn, Andy Headen, Terry Kinard, Dorian O’Daniel and William Perry among Clemson players to earn both a national championship ring and a Super Bowl ring.

Henry earned All-ACC and All-American honors in 2022, and at the time of his departure for the NFL, his 58 career games were the most ever by a Clemson defensive end.

The 26-year-old Henry, a third-year pro, will take part in the Steelers’ offseason activities and try to earn a spot on the active roster in 2026.
