CLEMSON — Following his team’s 69-59 loss to No. 22 Clemson on Saturday, Miami head coach Jai Lucas had nothing but praise for Tigers’ head coach Brad Brownell.
“Clemson, as long as I have been in the league, has always been one of the best coached teams. I don’t think he gets enough credit for how well of a job he does,” Lucas said. “I think he is one of the best coaches in the country to be honest with you, especially this year. They have so many new players, but they are like a well-oiled machine, offensively and defensively.”
Clemson (16-3, 6-0 ACC) won its ninth straight game and 16th in a row at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers, who led from start to finish, were led by Carter Welling’s 18 points and nine rebounds. They also got 11 points from Jestin Porter, who also had three steals. R.J. Godfrey scored 10 points in the win.
Guard Dillon Hunter added seven points to go along with seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.
The Hurricanes (15-3, 4-1 ACC) were led by Shelton Henderson’s game-high 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting.
