Clemson has been extremely selective when it comes to running back targets in the 2027 class.
So far, the Tigers have only offered two players at the position. Four-star in-star back Tre Segarra picked up the first last summer, with four-star Andrew Beard landing the second. That one just went out less than two weeks ago.
However, there are still other backs being actively recruited by the coaching staff. Running backs coach C.J. Spiller was in to see three-star Aiden Gibson (Woodruff) last week. The in-state talent told The Clemson Insider he was hoping to get back to Clemson in the spring, but had yet to lock in a date.
Gibson rushed for more than 1,600 yards with 21 touchdowns as a junior, averaging right at eight yards per carry. He also had 387 receiving yards, with four more scores.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound back currently has close to 20 offers and has already locked in several official visits for the summer.
- Rutgers: May 29-31
- South Carolina: June 5-7
- Penn State: June 12-14
- Virginia Tech: June 19-21
If the Tigers were to pull the trigger on an offer, it would be interesting to see whether Gibson would consider rearranging his official visit schedule. Dabo Swinney typically only hosts officials one weekend in early June, although there have been some exceptions made in the past.
“There are a lot of schools that have been on me early and have been recruiting me hard,” Gibson told TCI in a previous interview. “And I tell a lot of colleges that I am not a kid who is going to chase money or anything, I just want to be coached hard by any school that I end up going to. I like bonding with a lot of people. I am a kid who likes to have fun. I just want to be coached well and hard. I just want development out of a school. So, when football is over for me, I can lean back on that education.”
