A former Clemson standout is headed to Brooklyn.
Ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, the Denver Nuggets are trading Hunter Tyson and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Tyson will now start the next chapter of his NBA career in Brooklyn and get a fresh start with the Nets after averaging just 7.7 minutes per game across 21 appearances with the Nuggets this season.
The 25-year-old Tyson appeared in 90 games over three seasons with Denver. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.7 rebounds this season.
Tyson was picked 37th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. The pick was part of an agreed-upon trade to the Nuggets.
Tyson, who played five seasons at Clemson from the 2018-19 season through the 2022-23 campaign, became just the 17th player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in a career. In his final season, he became the all-time games played leader in Clemson history.
Tyson earned first-team All-ACC honors after putting together a career year at Clemson in 2022-23, when he averaged a team-best 15.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor, 40.5 percent from 3 and 83.8 percent at the free-throw line and collecting 16 double-doubles.
