ESPN Draft Analyst ‘A Big Fan’ of Clemson CB

This NFL Draft analyst is certainly high on Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid spoke highly of Terrell during ESPN’s “NFL Draft Daily” show, while discussing Terrell as a player on the rise with first-round possibilities.

“He’s feisty,” Reid said. “He can play inside, he can play outside as well. I’m a big fan of this player.”

A 2025 All-American and Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist, Terrell was credited with 128 tackles (nine for loss), 30 pass breakups, three interceptions, four sacks, eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries across 39 games (31 starts) in his career as a Tiger from 2023-25.

The two-time All-ACC selection set Clemson records for a defensive back in forced fumbles in a season (five in 2025) and a career (eight), and he led all cornerbacks nationally in forced fumbles across his three-year Clemson career.

Reid compared Terrell to former University of Washington and current Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie, who was selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft (No. 21 overall pick).

“A player that he reminds me of – there’s a little shades of Trent McDuffie here with him,” Reid said of Terrell. “And if you remember, McDuffie had very similar questions coming out of Washington. When he did come out, ended up going in the late first round. I think Terrell is going to go in a similar range.”

In his 2026 NFL Draft rankings, released on Feb. 6, Reid ranked Terrell as the No. 25 overall player in this year’s draft class and the fourth-best cornerback.

A mock draft from Reid, released on Jan. 6, projected Terrell to be selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the 30th overall pick in the first round of this spring’s draft. The 2026 NFL Draft will take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.

“Terrell is my type of corner. Plays with intensity, quick feet, good technique, and has inside-out flexibility,” Reid wrote in a social media post. “Potential to be a starter early in his career.”
