Clemson Drops in Latest Top 25 Rankings

The latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll was released on Monday, as well as the latest AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll.

Clemson (20-6, 10-3 ACC) fell to No. 24 in the Coaches Poll, while Clemson dropped out of the AP Top 25 entirely. The Tigers are now first among the teams outside of the AP Top 25 receiving votes (55).

Last week, the Tigers were No. 18 in the Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the AP Poll.

Clemson is coming off back-to-back losses last week – 76-66 vs. Virginia Tech on Wednesday at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, and 67-54 at then-No. 4 Duke on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.

Prior to those two defeats, the Tigers had won 13 of their last 14 games. Before the loss at Duke, Clemson had won 14 consecutive ACC road games dating back to last season – tied for the second longest streak in ACC history (Duke from 1962-64).

Brad Brownell’s Tigers return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to play Wake Forest at LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. (7 p.m., ACC Network). Clemson will then return home to host Florida State at Littlejohn Coliseum on Saturday (12 p.m., The CW).

Clemson is currently in third place in the ACC standings behind Duke (23-2, 12-1 ACC) and Virginia (22-3, 10-2 ACC).
