CLEMSON — Jacob Jarrell launched a two-out bomb to left centerfield in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday that got the 15th-ranked Tigers rolling in an 11-1 victory over Charlotte at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Jarrell’s home run came with two outs and the bases loaded. His blast gave the Tigers a 5-0 lead at the time.
“We do scouting with all the coaches and they give me pretty much all the pitches and all the things I needed to know out there,” Jarrell said. “Basically, I kind of knew what was coming a little bit. I was kind of expecting that (cutter), but the scouting here is phenomenal.”
Clemson (4-0) also got home runs from Tryston McCladdie and Nate Savoie. Pitcher Eston Simpson, a freshman, pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed just two hits and walked two batters in earning his first career victory.
