Brownell Named to Coach of the Year Watch List

Clemson University men’s basketball Head Coach Brad Brownell was named to the 2026 Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Watch List.

Brownell, now in his 16th season at Clemson, has led the Tigers to a 20-7 overall record, including a 10-4 mark in the ACC to this point in the season.

Clemson has won 94 games over the last four seasons (2022-26), including two trips to the NCAA Tournament and the school’s second Elite Eight appearance. The Tigers are 53-21 overall in the ACC over the same time period, the second-most wins in the ACC behind Duke in both categories.

Clemson’s 94-37 record for the last four years is the most wins in Clemson history over a four-year period. The previous mark was a 93-41 mark between 2006-07 and 2009-10. The record was broken with a road win at California (Feb. 7). It also clinched just the second era that Clemson has won at least 20 games four years in a row. The first five year era was 2006-07 to 2010-11.

Dating back to the 2024-25 campaign, Clemson had won 14 consecutive ACC road games – tied for the second-longest streak in ACC history. The streak was snapped on Feb. 14 at No. 4 Duke. Also dating back to last year, the Tigers are 8-1 against the Top 12 winningest programs in college basketball history.

This season, Clemson became just the third team in the ACC to sweep its West Coast road trip with back-to-back wins over Stanford and California.

The Tigers won its third consecutive regular season championship in November with wins over West Virginia and Georgia to claim the 2025 Charleston Classic title.

In January, Clemson finished 7-1 which marked just the second time Clemson has lost just one game in the month of January since 1951. The .875 win percentage is tied for the best in the month since 1935.

The Tigers host Florida State on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 12 p.m. on The CW.
