Another Freshman Set to Make First Career Start

CLEMSON — Clemson is once again set to start a true freshman in a midweek game.

One week after Eston Simpson made his first career start in the midweek win over Charlotte, Dylan Harrison will get the nod on Tuesday when Presbyterian visits Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

However, this will not mark Harrison’s first appearance. The freshman right-hander made his debut in relief of Aidan Knaak in the season-opening win over Army. Harrison came on to start the fourth, with the Tigers trailing 1-0, and held the Black Knights to one run while scattering five hits across 4.1 innings of work. He struck out three and did not walk a batter in his collegiate debut. Of his 62 pitches, 50 were strikes.

“There was a little bit (of nerves) at the very beginning,” Harrison said. “But once I threw that first pitch and I knew (Jacob Jarrell) was catching me, I had 100% confidence in the team behind me. I was confident the rest of the way.”

Hailing from Summit High School in Fontana, California, Harrison was a Top 130 prospect and one of the Top 30 right-handers in the nation, per Perfect Game.
